Plains
The Chinese adapted to living in the plains by using the lands to farm millet, wheat, soy beans, cucumbers, bok choy, and sorghum. They would irrigate the land by using the water from the rivers , which made the land fertile and perfect for growing rice and water chestnuts, which was a very big source, and for other agriculture purposes. But one major problem was that years of hard work could be destroyed in a matter of hours because of bad weather, so they had to be careful of floods/heavy rainfalls.
As well, the Chinese would use the rivers that ran through the plains to fish, feed their cattle and travel up and down the rivers in boats.

FORESTS
The Chinese adapted to living in the forests by using them for hunting for food (meat), like deer and reindeer (not Santa reindeer), and they used the jungles (rainforests) for growing plants that they used for medicine, like Ginseng.
DESERTS
The only thing the Chinese could use the deserts for was to herd animals, like cattle, to patches of grassland here and there. They would use oasis (small areas that had water sources) to give their animals water. It was very hard for the Chinese to live in the desert areas, as they were too hot and harsh to live in. The Chinese would the animals for meat and milk.
MOUNTAINS
The Chinese adapted to the mountains by planting and harvesting fruits, like peaches and apricots, as well as herding animals like Cattle.
